Research Enthuse:
Microalgae are ubiquitous in the cryospheric arena of the earth, acclimated from toppest peak of the mountain to the deepest part of the ocean. They form the important biotic component of the polar ecosystem as they form the basis for food web. Being psychrophilic in nature, their membrane component encompass the richness of polyunsaturated fatty acids for their adaptation, which fortunately act as an important key for tapping this rarely exploited biodiesel treasure to come into core picture and triggered out an interest on me to focus on those remote strains mutually like their mesophilic counterparts, enabling me to exploit this extremophilic community to solve the extreme energy crisis. The overarching goal of our study is to harness the most abundant, underused and recoverable energy source of our planet, the solar radiation, for the production of algal biomass and ultimately for biodiesel.
